Adding a Calendar Event

Calendar Events appear on the Regional Calendar and in the Upcoming Events block on the left side of the page.

To add a Calendar Event:

  1. Under Resources - click on Add to Website --> Calendar Event
  2. Fill in the event name
  3. The From date is required but you don't have to put a "To date"
  4. Repeating events can be setup under the Repeat section
  5. Make sure to add Pictures as well as text to the Event Details section and feel free to attach PDF or documents to your event or point people to the Downloads Area
  6. Click Save and your done!

The event will be automatically published and you'll see it in the calendar. The upcoming events list on the left side shows the next 5 events and will automatically remove the old events as the dates pass.

Adding a Story

A story is really a simple piece of content that you want to show up on the front page of the NER website. An example of a story would be to announce an upcoming conference where you want to give details about the conference and add attachments such as such as flyers or registration forms.

To add a story follow the steps below:

  1. under the Resources menu item (located in the top menu bar) click Add to the Website --> Story
  2. Add a title and pick a topic to categorize the story. The meat of the story goes under the body section. Here you can add text and pictures.
  3. When your satisfied with what you have (you can always edit the story again to change details) click on the save button at the bottom of the page. This saves your story and also "publishes" it to the website.

Even though your story is published, it doesn't show up on the front page of the website. To "promote" it to the front page of the website, you'll notice under each story, there are 3 links that will something like this:

These links "Toggle" the story states. The links above say that this story is published but is not sticky or promoted to the front page of the website. Making a story "Sticky" means that, when promoted to the front page, it will stay at the top of the list of published and promoted stories even though it may be older. Generally, as newer stories get promoted to the front page of the website, they appear at the top, while older stories appear after in descending order.

You can toggle these states on and off as you want. If you have an older story on the front page that you still want your readers to see but it's not important enough to be on the front page, toggle the promoted/not promoted link.

World Class Outpost

Greetings Royal Rangers,

Summer is almost here and exciting outdoor Royal Ranger adventures are kicking into full gear all over the region. I wanted to remind you of an outstanding opportunity for leadership Training for your entire leadership team – even though it is indoors!

There is a World Class Outpost seminar on July 10-11 in York, PA. Click here for details:

http://royalrangers.ag.org/training/schedule/pdf/WCO%2007.10.09%20PA.pdf

The seminar is officially a “GO”! So don’t delay submitting your application thinking it may get cancelled. This seminar is most effective when as many of the outpost leadership team attend as possible – so invite the whole team! But if you are the only one from your outpost – come anyway. Invite your Pastor & Outpost Councilmen as well.

This nationally sponsored seminar is designed to:

1. Help you build and maintain a cohesive leadership team;

2. Create clarity regarding the vision, mission, goals & methods of Rangers;

3. Help your team assess your current ministry effectiveness & efficiency – what level of World Class Outpost are you?

4. Develop a written strategic plan going forward (specifically for your Outpost);

5. Provide you with resources to help improve your Outpost.

This seminar has undergone updates that will be taught for the first time, so make plans to be part of this important training event. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or Scott Hurt, NE Regional Training Coordinator. God bless and enjoy the Summer, Dwight Walters Northeast Regional Coordinator Royal Rangers

National Training Camp Database

We Need Your Help

The Region is creating a database that will keep track of all National Training Camps that have been attended by the leaders in the Northeast Region.  This will help us to plan for future training opportunities in the region.

As Regional Training Coordinator, Scott Hurt is in the process of creating a database that will keep track of all National Training Camps that have been attended by the leaders in the Northeast Region.  This will help him and the District Training Coordinators plan for future training opportunities in the region.
